On Friday the Butler women’s basketball team faced the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. I was the host for this game. This game would be their first regular season game. Both teams were looking to start the season off with a win. However, only one will come away with the victory. I’ve watched the lady dawgs play a couple of games by now. They have look good at times and bad at times. I think if they focus on doing the little things well then the big things will follow. On the other hand, the Buccaneers seemed very athletic and came in with a lot of emotion. I thought it would be a good test for Butler. As the game went on you got the feeling East Tennessee State would run away with it. However, Butler fought back into it, even taking the lead at one point. However, the Buccaneers proved too much for them in the end. East Tennessee State defeated Butler 68 – 59. The Buccaneers won due to some tremendous scoring efforts from #15 Tianna Tarter with 24 points and #2 Shamauria Bridges with 23 points. These two were awesome for East Tennessee State. On the other hand, Butler had a player that had a good scoring day as well. #24 Kristen Spolyar had 25 points. She was a bright point despite the loss. The Bulldogs need to learn from this loss and move on. On a side note, the Butler men’s basketball team defeated North Colorado 89 – 52 last night. The Butler women’s basketball team redeemed themselves today defeating Bradley 58 – 56. GO DAWGS!!!
