Saturday and Sunday were full of some exciting Butler match-ups. Saturday Butler football played the San Diego Toreros. Butler came into the game at 2-2, whereas San Diego came in at 2-1. However, San Diego would leave with a 3-1 record. The Toreros beat the Bulldogs 44-10. It seemed like everything was going right for the Toreros and wrong for the Bulldogs. It wasn’t a good game at all. The Toreros had 526 total offensive yards and 6 touchdowns. They have a lot to work on in order to beat Marist University for their homecoming. I hope they get it together because I don’t want them to get embarrassed for their homecoming. Homecoming will be one of their bigger crowds of the season. I was the host for the visiting team and I also helped with game day operations.
Later that night Butler men’s soccer played the Georgetown Hoyas. #7 Butler came in at 7-1-1 after a tough loss to Indiana. Georgetown came in at 2-6. The Bulldogs would deliver another loss to the Hoyas’ record. It was a great showing from both teams but the dawgs came out on top 4-2. Goals were scored by Isaac Galliford (1 goal), Lewis Suddick (1 goal), and David Goldsmith (2 goals). The men’s soccer team looks like a contender for the NCAA National Championship Tournament. However, we will have to wait and see. Sunday the Butler women’s soccer team played the Providence Friars. The lady dawgs came in with a record of 8-2-1 whereas the Friars came in at 7-3-1. These are two of the top teams in the Big East Conference. The lady dawgs had not given up a goal since September 4. However, that streak would end today. The Friars would defeat the dogs 1-0. The lady dawgs fought hard but didn’t come away with the win. At the beginning of the game I thought to myself that the girls seemed a little beat up. That may have played a factor in the game because they didn’t look like their normal selves. You’ll know my role for soccer games. This internship offers me an opportunity to experience college sport first-hand. I will continue to learn and grow. Well until next time, be blessed. GO DAWGS!!!!
